Program Outline - Year 2
Modeling
During the five weeks module student learn how to model a character with good topology and muscle volume, Mudbox skills are developed and the students create normal maps and displacement maps.
Rigging & Skinning
This 5 week module will enable students to set up characters ready for animation inside a production pipeline. Students will learn more advance character animation techniques while refining the skills.
Dynamics & Scripting
This 5 week module will develop students understanding of scripting and its advantages and applications in computer graphics through a series of real world problem solving examples. Students are taught how to manipulate and how to use a number of applications in the visual effects field to render them.
Lighting , Rendering and Compositing
In this 5 week module, students study advanced lighting/ texturing and compositing practices. Mental Ray is explored in detail, with a special emphasis on optimization techniques. Camera projection techniques in Maya are studied.
Specialisation
With this 3 week module, students will choose to have specialised training in 1 particular area these could include: Lighting, Rendering and Com positing, Game Development, Animation or Modeling. These are generally taught by industry experts.
Post -Production
This 5 week module focuses on advanced compositing and post production techniques and software. Camera projection techniques in Nuke and film matte paintings are studied in detail.
Production Project
The out come of this module is a show reel that demonstrates the application of all the skills and technical knowledge acquired by the student at the conclusion of the intensive course programme of studying. Students work either solely or in a team, setting their own work schedule to experience and demonstrate that they are ready for employment in the industry .
Diploma Advanced 3D Animation Level 7
Lifeway College’s 3D Animation is the highest available level of specialist 3D Animation training in New Zealand. Located at New Zealand's largest 3D Animation worksite. Students enjoy many benefits such as guest lecturers from the top of the industry. Previous guest lecturers have included Dreamworks Animation Director Tim Johnson (Antz, Over the Hedge) and many more..
