What Is Involved?
The Diploma in Business Administration (Level 5) is a one year programme designed to provide students with the training and necessary in business practice across the spectrum of private and public, commercial and industrial organisations. It is also a pathway of study into a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, preparing students to specialise in Accounting/Finance, Human Resource Management or Marketing. This is a great option for students wanting to start their tertiary studies in Lifeway's unique environment and provides a pathway into other universities or employment.

The Diploma in Business Administration: Entrepreneurship (Level 6) is a one year programme designed specifically to assist and support students in preparing to start their own business and develop the advanced skill-base necessary to achieve success in the business world. Students conduct field research, develop and present a full business plan, and investigate various levels of management. The programme also contains specific sections for social entrepreneurs who wish to work with and manage not-for-profit organisations (NGOs and charities) imparting the sound business practices required throughout the world today.

Campuses during Study & Internships

The first six months of all programmes is based at the Lifeway Campus in Snells Beach. See here for more information on the beautiful environment.

The second six months of study is based either in:

1). Lifeway College Auckland CIty Campus - 95 Mt Eden Rd, Mt Eden, Auckland (see our Lifeway College Conference auditorium at our Auckland campus below)... or...

2). Internship in one of the 100+ businesses in the LIFE Business Network. See our Lifepages for a sample of business we work with

A Day In The Life Of The Business Programme
As students take one module for 4 concentrated weeks, their schedules change with every module.  Thus a day in the life of changes every four weeks.  So for some weeks students would have classes from 9-3.30 two days a week and for other modules 4 mornings a week.  They would also have nightly reading and a couple of assignments for the specific module.  For example in Business Communications, students are expected at the end to do a formal presentation of their proposed business or product with effective use of power point & visual aids and public speaking skills to a panel of experts who individually comment and grade each presentation.  In Business Research Methods, students learn all the principles and methodology of research and then go into the field to test aspects of their own business plan or product, so one student spent two Saturdays standing on Queens Street in Auckland asking questions to test people's interest and knowledge of purchasing Pacific art and then further time at Otara Market doing the same sampling.

Students are encouraged to have part-time jobs in order to acquire experience in a variety of work situations as good case studies for what they are learning...from staff and management issues to layout of products and inventory-taking to marketing and costing, all is invaluable.  It is also applicable that business students are encouraged to watch closely their own student indebtness and expenses, as most students seriously want to start businesses immediately upon completion of their studies.
